Disadvantages
of shared web hosting
· Shared web hosting comes with it’s
limitations. Unlike dedicated packages, for instance, you might only have
access to a limited amount of resources (CPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth, etc.)
because you are sharing resources with thousands of other websites.
· You get nowhere near the amount of
control that you will get with dedicated or VPS hosting, for instance. Shared
servers are managed by the web hosting provider, unlike dedicated servers which
you have full managerial control over.
· Once your website starts getting
traffic, shared hosting will no longer be able to keep up. You might then start
experiencing slow loading speeds and down times. At this point, you will have
no choice than to upgrade to a dedicated package.
· Shared hosting, unlike cloud hosting
for instance, can not and will not be able to cope with any traffic spikes. If
the traffic coming to your website experiences a sudden spike, chances are that
it will simply go down and become inaccessible.
